Doh!
So I already failed the 30 day challange…I didn’t get Day 02 posted, although it is half done! :(
I’ll have Day 02 and Day 03 done tomorrow, as well as a Sting concert review, and we can all pretend that I didn’t miss a day, or just eat a donught! Deal? Deal!
Day 01: What is the force that binds the stars, I wore this mask to hide my scars.
So Day 01 of the 30 day challenge requires me to talk about my favourite song. Now, this is indeed a challenge! I have numerous favorite songs, they change with the weather, my mood, the time of year, etc, etc! I think anyone can say that. I feel most people have many different songs to fit many different moods. Or at least, I hope that’s how most people function.
I don’t want to sound contrived, but when people say they love music, I often probe them on it. I mean there’s no prize on loving music or anything, and I know I’d never win it even if there was, but you can’t fully enjoy music unless you’ve experienced it live. I know people who claim to love music more then I do, yet have not seen a single artist live. I have no problem with people loving music produced in a studio, but I I think seeing an artist live makes you respect and appreciate their efforts a lot more. Seeing an artist live is like discovering them on a whole new level. I’ve seen artists who I’ve thought had fairly decent albums, but then to see them live, they’ve either proven to me that they can in fact make music and entertain, or the opposite, that they are crap. So far, the number of artists who have exceeded my expectations has been greater then the ones who have let me down, but I digress.
This is supposed to be a post about my favorite song. Now, pinning down one song that I could listen to for eternity would be painful and sad, but I guess in a pinch, I could do it. My favorite song has to be Ghost Story by Sting. I first received this CD for Christmas in 1999 and it really became the sound track of my life, for a long, long time. I remember laying in bed, listening to this CD over and over again, picturing myself in some distant city, living some different life, and it was the reason I had hopes and dreams. This song inspired me. It made me want more out of life, which to this day makes me strive for more. That’s why it’s my favorite song. That’s why whenever I need a boost of inspiration, I put on this song, close my eyes and am taken back to my younger self, who wanted so much more out of life.
So, that is it. My favorite song. Sorry this blog post is all over the place. It’s early, and my day off. So my thoughts are kind of scattered! Hopefully the posts will get better as the days commence!
